Step-by-step guideRun your GPS art
Run your GPS art
in the real world
You've designed your route. Now load it onto your device and go run it. Here's how to get your .gpx file onto Garmin, Apple Watch, or Strava.
Garmin
Via Garmin Connect app (iOS)1
1. Export the GPX from RunGogh
Tap "Export GPX" to download the .gpx file to your phone.
2
2. Share to Garmin Connect
Tap the downloaded .gpx file → tap the Share icon → select Garmin Connect from the share sheet. The app imports it as a Course automatically.
3
3. Name and save the course
Enter a name for your course and tap Done. Find it under More → Training & Planning → Courses.
4
4. Send to your watch
Open the course → tap "Send to Device" (top right). Make sure your watch is connected via Bluetooth.
5
5. Start on your watch
Press START on your Garmin → Navigation → Courses → find your route → Do Course → START.
💡Garmin will show you a map of the shape and alert you when you go off-course. Follow the line!
Apple Watch / iPhone
Via WorkOutDoors app (~$8 one-time)1
1. Install WorkOutDoors on your iPhone
Download WorkOutDoors from the App Store. It automatically installs a companion app on your Apple Watch.
2
2. Export GPX and open with WorkOutDoors
Tap "Export GPX" in RunGogh → tap the downloaded file → Share icon → choose WorkOutDoors. Or open WorkOutDoors → Routes → Import.
3
3. Route appears in the app
The route shows up under Routes in the WorkOutDoors iPhone app.
4
4. Send to your Apple Watch
Tap the route → "Send to Watch". Optionally tap "Send Map to Watch" to cache map tiles on the watch.
5
5. Start your run on the watch
On Apple Watch → open WorkOutDoors → Routes → select your route → Start Workout. The watch shows your live position on the shape.
💡WorkOutDoors is the best GPX navigation app for Apple Watch — it shows your position on the shape in real time and alerts you when you go off-route.
Strava
Best for logging — use alongside Garmin or WorkOutDoors1
1. Open strava.com in your browser
The iOS app does not support GPX import for free users. Open strava.com in Safari or Chrome on your phone.
2
2. Upload the GPX as an activity
Tap "+" → Upload Activity → select your .gpx file. Strava imports it as a completed activity in your feed.
3
3. Premium: create a navigable Route
Strava Premium users can go to Routes → "+" → Import File in the iOS app to create a navigable route.
4
4. Navigate (Premium)
Open Strava app → Routes → select your route → Navigate. Your phone gives audio cues when you drift off the shape.
5
5. Auto-sync from Garmin/Apple Watch
If your Garmin or Apple Watch is connected to Strava, your run syncs to Strava automatically after you finish — no manual upload needed.
💡Strava doesn't support GPX import in the free iOS app. Use Garmin or WorkOutDoors for real-time navigation — then your activity syncs to Strava automatically.
